About Errol
Errol is a beautifully natured, affectionate dog who has been a joy to his current carer. With his friendly, gentle demeanor and intelligent, quirky personality, he’s a well-rounded companion who loves both quiet cuddle time at home and exciting adventures. Errol travels beautifully in the car, enjoys beach trips, and delights in running around grassy areas near ponds.
Due to Grade 2 elbow dysplasia, Errol was removed from the Seeing Eye Dog training program, but this doesn’t slow him down much. While he hasn’t shown signs of lameness, future monitoring for discomfort is recommended after physical activities. Because of this diagnosis, his adoption fee has been reduced by 50%.
Where I grew up
Errol grew up in a city apartment with an adult male and had playdates with a Staffordshire Terrier, with whom he got along well. He adapted well to apartment living, thriving on walks and occasional playtime. While there wasn’t a garden, Errol enjoyed the small balcony and would happily settle in his crate at night.
His day-to-day experiences included attending work with his carer at a primary school. Errol would patiently stay in his crate during teaching hours but enjoyed walking to classrooms and socializing during breaks. He navigated bustling play areas filled with children, though he could become stimulated by the noise and activity.
A good fit for me is...
Errol would thrive in a home that can provide a balance of mental stimulation and quiet companionship. His ideal adopter:
- Appreciates his gentle and affectionate nature.
- Understands his health considerations and is prepared to monitor his activity levels.
- Lives in a calm household, though Errol is versatile and adaptable to various environments.
- Is patient and experienced with training or willing to work on ongoing development, such as managing dog distractions and teaching new commands.
While Errol is used to apartment living, a home with access to a yard would also suit him, as long as he has opportunities to engage with his family and explore the world around him.
My personality traits
- Strengths:
- Patient, gentle, and affectionate.
- Friendly and joyous, with a quirky charm.
- Intelligent and quick to learn.
- Challenges:
- Requires support to stay focused around other dogs.
- Occasionally steals items like socks or tries to drink from the toilet, even when his water bowl is full.
- Low food motivation can make training a bit tricky.
- Has some concerns around vet examinations of his ears (will need to continue training in this area)
Errol is versatile and adaptable, happy to enjoy relaxed cuddle time or join you on outings. He adores back scratches near his tail, crispy lettuce, and frozen carrots, making him as fun as he is loving.
