Does Seeing Eye Dogs ever have dogs available for adoption?
At Seeing Eye Dogs we provide the highest level of care and training for our dogs. From time to time, some dogs are re-classified to a different role such as a therapy dog, working closely with other service dog associations, or they become available for adoption.
We like to refer to this ‘re-classification’ of role from a working Seeing Eye Dog to a ‘career change’. A career change gives our dogs the opportunity to continue living their best lives in another role.
You can find out more about dogs for adoption by checking this page for regular updates.
How much does it cost to adopt a dog from Seeing Eye Dogs?
The adoption fee for a pet dog from Seeing Eye Dogs is $3,000. This fee is invested back into our breeding and training programs, helping contribute to the cost of caring for our dogs.
All dogs made available for adoption are desexed, fully vaccinated and up to date with their flea and worming protection. On rehoming, you will also receive a bag of the dog’s current premium quality food and a high level of post-adoption support to make the transition a success.
Full payment is required at the time of adoption.
What is the process for applying for a released Seeing Eye Dog?
In the first instance, check the list below to see if there are any available dogs in your local region. Please note that we cannot offer interstate adoption.
If you see a dog that you’re interested in, please complete an application form for that dog, telling us all about your lifestyle, household and family.
Our adoption team will assess every application to determine the most suitable candidate and contact you via email to outline the next steps. You will be notified if you’re unsuccessful.
If your application is selected as the best match for the dog, you will need to come in for a meeting to discuss the adoption process further.
