About Maple

Maple is a loving, playful young girl with a gentle soul and a big heart - literally and figuratively! She’s looking for a calm, understanding home where she can continue to build confidence and enjoy life at her own pace. Maple’s adoption fee has been waived due to a mild heart condition (more below), but what she really needs is a family who will love her for the beautiful, quirky girl she is.

Where I grew up

Maple was raised in a foster home where she’s learned all about life in a house and the joys of toys, garden zoomies, and belly rubs. While she’s made great progress, her early sensitivity to busy environments has remained part of who she is - so she’s after a quiet, low-pressure home where she can feel safe and secure.

A good fit for me is...

Maple would thrive in a peaceful home with:

  • A calm and patient handler who can give her the space and support she needs.
  • A predictable daily routine and a quiet neighbourhood, away from the hustle and bustle.
  • Someone happy to carry her into the car (she travels fine once inside, but is scared of the process).
  • Another friendly dog to help her feel more confident and keep her company.
  • A gentle environment that doesn’t expect her to be a go-anywhere, do-anything kind of dog—just her wonderful self.

My personality traits

At home, Maple is affectionate, playful, and endearing. She’s bubbly and fun-loving with her favourite people, adores her toys, and is an expert cuddler. She’s not clingy, just enjoys companionship and connection. Off-lead at the park, she’s social and confident with other dogs and loves to explore.

However, Maple does have some challenges. She’s very anxious in unfamiliar environments, especially near busy roads or when approaching cars. Despite careful training, she remains fearful in these situations and struggles to focus. She needs a home that accepts this about her and won’t ask her to be something she’s not.

A note on my health

During a routine vet check, a heart murmur was found, so Maple had further scans. These showed she has a very mild condition called sub-aortic stenosis. The great news is that it’s not causing any changes to her heart function or size, and it’s very unlikely to affect her life or health. As a precaution, we recommend a follow-up heart scan when she’s around 16 months old for peace of mind and a clearer long-term picture.

Because of this, Maple’s adoption fee has been waived—but the love she’ll bring is priceless.

If you can offer Maple the quiet, loving home she deserves, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s help this sweet girl blossom.
