About Vince
Meet Vince – a sweet, calm and clever young dog who is now looking for a loving pet home. Vince will not be continuing in the Seeing Eye Dogs program due to a health condition affecting his elbow. Despite this, he has so much to offer and will make a wonderful companion for the right family.
Where I grew up
Vince grew up in a home with three adults and a friendly Labrador. He’s used to being part of family life and even accompanied his carer to work at a physiotherapy practice, where he was beautifully behaved and happy to relax on his mat in the treatment room.
A good fit for me is...
Vince will thrive in a calm and caring home, ideally with another dog for company, as he has always enjoyed canine companionship. He’ll need a quiet environment to support his recovery if his new family chooses surgery for his elbow, or ongoing management if surgery isn’t pursued. A family committed to his ongoing care, who can provide gentle exercise, enrichment, and lots of love, will be the best match for him.
My personality traits
- Calm, affectionate, and eager to please.
- Excellent recall and a very fast learner.
- Excitable at meal times (he uses a slow feeder bowl).
- Loves playtime with other dogs.
- Doesn’t bark and shows very little mouthing.
- Whines gently in the morning around 6am to say he’s awake.
- Can be destructive with toys or bedding if left with them unattended.
Special Notes
Vince has been diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD), a condition affecting cartilage development. Surgery may be recommended, and Seeing Eye Dogs will cover the cost of this if performed by our specialist at PenVet within three months of adoption. If managed without surgery, Vince would require ongoing pain management and may benefit from physiotherapy or hydrotherapy.
