About Ulf

Ulf is a large, affectionate and cheeky young dog who’s ready to find his forever home. He is calm, loving, and thrives when he's close to his humans. Ulf loves tug games, ear massages, zoomies in the yard, snuggling near a heater, and long naps—especially on rainy days.
He is an expert cuddler and a lover of all things plush, chewy, or remotely toy-like.

Ulf has been diagnosed with a condition called urinary dyssynergia, which may require occasional management with medication to help him stay comfortable. A supply of his medication (Prazosin) will be provided, and his adoption fee has been reduced by 50% in acknowledgement of the potential need for ongoing care.

Where I grew up

Ulf grew up in a loving home with two mature adults and had frequent visits from grandchildren aged 6 to 14. He is well-socialised with people of all ages and is particularly adored at an aged care residence, where he visits regularly. He walks beautifully beside wheelchairs, lies quietly during group activities like carpet bowls or meals, and soaks up the pats and love from residents. He’s also spent time in busy multi-pet households and has proven adaptable when introduced slowly and thoughtfully to new environments.

A good fit for me is...

Ulf would thrive in a calm, structured home with people who are affectionate, patient, and firm in their boundaries. He could be the only dog or live with a compatible, similarly sized dog who enjoys active play. A quieter home without small pets (like cats or small dogs) is ideal, as Ulf tends to chase small animals and becomes overstimulated in high-energy, multi-animal households.
While Ulf loves other dogs his play style can be quite silly and intense, so this would need to be managed.

His new home should be ready to provide:

  • A tidy, dog-safe environment (he will grab anything in reach!)
  • Ongoing management for his urinary condition
  • Regular, gentle toileting opportunities
  • A lifestyle where he’s not left alone for long stretches—Ulf has some separation anxiety and thrives on companionship
  • Positive reinforcement and consistent routines, as Ulf is clever but selectively obedient!

My personality traits

  • Affectionate & Social – Loves being with people, settles beautifully around older adults and kids once his initial excitement fades
  • Playful & Cheeky – Enjoys tug toys, zoomies, carrying things around, and occasionally “liberating” your socks or bathmats for fun
  • Sensitive Soul – Startles easily and doesn't like sudden loud noises or being reached for too quickly; prefers calm, kind handling
  • Energetic but Easygoing – Loves to stretch out for naps after exercise and relax near his people
  • Goofy with a Side of Mischief – Known to chew or steal items if unsupervised; always needs suitable chew toys at the ready
  • Needs Gentle Guidance – Will push boundaries and test rules, so he needs clear, consistent expectations
  • Not a Crate Fan – Sleeps happily on a mat outside the crate, unconfined, and is fully toilet trained with good routine
