Meet Trisha

My name is Trisha. I came a long way in my training to become a Seeing Eye Dog. Now that I'm going to be a pet I am looking for an active home that can help me manage my elbow condition.

About Trisha

Trisha is a vibrant and affectionate young Labrador with an enormous heart and plenty of personality. She's not continuing in the Seeing Eye Dogs program due to intermittent chronic lameness, diagnosed as elbow dysplasia. While this condition requires lifelong management, it certainly hasn't dulled her spirit or her love for life!

Her ideal lifestyle includes low-impact exercise (no fetch, agility, or long-distance runs), a lean body condition, and the potential for medication during any flare-ups. As she ages, ongoing veterinary input will be important to keep her happy and healthy.

Where I grew up

Trisha grew up in a loving household with an adult male and a pet cat. She spent her early months socialising in a CBD-based open-plan office. She was mostly tethered in the office setting to help her settle, as her energy and curiosity often had her exploring. This has made her very people-friendly and adaptable to a variety of environments.

A good fit for me is...

  • A home with a large, secure yard to explore and play in
  • Active people who can include her in their daily routine, offer gentle walks and enrichment
  • A family that’s around most of the day — she thrives on company and doesn't love being left alone for long stretches
  • Someone happy to manage her medical needs and take vet guidance as she ages
  • A home without young children, or with older, dog-savvy kids who can handle her excitable nature
  • Pet owners who understand that chewing is her thing – especially soft toys (she’ll have them in pieces in no time!)

My personality traits

  • Loving and friendly – Trisha adores people and wants to be part of the action
  • Energetic and excitable – especially around new people, particularly females
  • A jumper when excited – managing greetings will be important
  • Cheeky chewer – she loves to chew and is at risk of ingesting items, so supervision and safe toy choices are key
  • Grass digger and grazer – she enjoys exploring the garden in typical Labrador fashion
  • Good indoors – she’s crate trained, often takes herself to bed when tired, and will settle with time and routine

Trisha is looking for a home where she can be herself — loved, active, a little silly, and surrounded by people who understand her needs.
