About Lotus

Lotus is a smart, loving young dog with a gentle heart and a strong desire to be close to her people. She’s incredibly easy to live with—she doesn’t destroy things, sleeps well in her crate overnight, and brings a calm presence indoors. Lotus loves to please, is eager to learn, and shows great potential to be a wonderful companion, possibly even in a support or emotional assistance role due to her calm nature and strong bond with humans.

She walks best in a head halter or body harness and is steadily improving with dog distraction and leash manners. She has a beautiful recall, and while she can be tempted to sniff and explore the world around her, she responds well to direction and structure.
Lotus is a truly lovely dog who brought joy, calm, and companionship to her foster family. She is sweet, respectful, and has an eagerness to be part of a loving home. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stick by your side, give her heart fully, and join you in both calm and active moments—Lotus might just be your perfect match.

Where I grew up

Lotus was raised in a single-storey suburban home with one adult and an adult-aged son. While she was the only pet in the house, she had frequent exposure to Seeing Eye Dogs puppies and was regularly around different environments, including offices and busy public spaces.

A good fit for me is...

Lotus would thrive in a home where she gets regular companionship, positive guidance, and a chance to burn off energy through play or walks. Her ideal home would offer:

  • A calm, consistent routine with clear boundaries
  • A backyard or nearby park for short bursts of energy
  • Continued training to help with dog distractions and her love of sniffing on walks
  • A family that can manage occasional jumping when she’s excited or tempted by the kitchen counter
  • Possibly a low-traffic home with no other pets, or experienced handlers if there’s another dog

She has experience in a work environment and would be a great companion for someone who works from home or can take her along to the office—she settles well when tethered or crated and loves to be nearby.

My personality traits

  • Calm in busy places: Settled beautifully in an open office and even stayed relaxed while tethered at a public swimming pool with kids walking by
  • Affectionate and people-friendly: Loves everyone she meets—regardless of age or size
  • Eager to please: She wants to do the right thing and thrives when praised
  • Low-destructive: Doesn’t chew or damage things in the home
  • Energetic but manageable: Enjoys a good run or walk, then settles nicely indoors
  • Food motivated: Which helps with training—but she’s also a sneaky counter surfer!
  • Well-mannered with guidance: Will sit to greet guests but can jump up if overexcited
  • Smart and intuitive: She’s brave and observant, and has a natural ability to read people and environments

Training Notes

  • Lotus may lunge at dogs or birds when distracted on walks—especially in high-stimulation areas—but is improving with training and walks best with supportive equipment
  • She enjoys sniffing her surroundings, which can slow walks down unless redirected
  • She may check the bench for food and occasionally leap onto the couch during zoomies
  • While she’s not afraid of the vacuum, she’ll often choose to leave the room when it’s on
