About Iver
Iver is a big, goofy, lovable boy with a heart as oversized as his jowls. He’s full of charm, clumsiness, and character – the kind of dog who keeps you laughing daily with his silly antics. While Iver didn’t continue in the Seeing Eye Dogs program due to a lack of resilience (he tends to get spooked by new things and needs time to bounce back), he has endless love to give and would thrive in the right home as a cherished pet.
He’s very strong on lead, with some dog distraction, so we recommend ongoing training using a head collar. And while he may walk like he’s starring in a horror film when something surprises him, it only adds to his Scooby-Doo-like appeal!
Where I grew up
Iver grew up in a quiet home with an adult female and had regular exposure to office life, often travelling in the car to work with his carer. He’s well accustomed to household routines and can settle comfortably in both home and workplace environments.
A good fit for me is...
Iver is best suited to an experienced dog person or family with older children who can handle his size, strength, and sometimes clumsy affection. He would love to be allowed on the couch or bed and is completely trustworthy in the house – no crate required, and no toileting accidents.
He’s happy being left alone without any separation anxiety but would prefer a home where he can have plenty of affection, regular water-based adventures, and space to zoom when the excitement hits. Due to his tendency to body slam and mouth arms when overexcited, he’s not suited to young children or frail individuals.
My personality traits
- Water Lover – Beaches, pools, and water bowls... Iver dives in with gusto (sometimes bikini theft included – sorry in advance).
- Clownish and Clumsy – He’s got that hilarious Scooby-Doo energy: startled one minute, zooming the next.
- Velcro Dog – Loves chest rubs and full-body contact. He will find you and lean on you.
- Home Angel... Mostly – Trustworthy when left alone, but those house slippers and indoor plants? Fair game.
- Strong and Sensitive – Big-bodied with lots of love, but noise-sensitive and easily spooked.
- Comedian at Heart – His mix of cheeky and charming makes him totally unforgettable.
