About Hooton

Hooton is a gentle and affectionate Labrador who lives for companionship, cuddles, and showing off his favourite toys. He’s a laid-back, easy-going guy who loves to go for walks, explore the world around him, and share a snack with his favourite humans (carrots, bananas, or apple slices are always welcome!).

Hooton has been diagnosed with elbow dysplasia in his right elbow and is likely to require surgery. Seeing Eye Dogs will cover the cost of this procedure if it is undertaken within 3 months of adoption through our referral to Peninsula Vet Specialists. His new family must contact us before booking the surgery to ensure all care and costs are covered.

Where I grew up

Hooton was raised in a loving family home alongside a primary school-aged child and other Seeing Eye Dogs Labradors. He’s familiar with busy household life and has also spent time in office and school environments—taking everything in his stride with calm curiosity.

A good fit for me is...

A home where Hooton can be part of the family, surrounded by love (and a big basket of toys!). He can be left alone for periods—he’s happy in a crate or hanging out in the main living area. While he once found his way into a blocked-off room and chewed a couple of things, overall he’s calm, trustworthy, and content on his own when needed.

Hooton will thrive with humans who are willing to manage his elbow care and follow instructions around his medical needs. Most of all, he’s looking for someone who will adore him just as much as he’ll adore you.

My personality traits

  • Sweet, soulful, and affectionate
  • Loves showing off his toys and offering them for play
  • Gives the wiggliest welcome-home dances
  • Super chilled and happy-go-lucky
  • Occasionally does a little excited wee when overjoyed (he just really loves you!)
  • Foodie at heart—especially if snacks are involved
