About Gator
Gator is a laid-back, affectionate boy who’s happiest lounging near his humans and soaking up cuddles. He’s not one for high-octane adventures—he’s more of a “couple of walks a week” kind of guy—but he loves companionship and enjoys hanging out with other dogs. Gator walks beautifully on lead (especially in a flat collar or harness) and has spent time in a variety of environments, including homes, workplaces, and around both kids and other dogs.
He’s an opportunist with a cheeky streak, so his new home will need to be mindful of leaving tempting items within reach. He’s also shown some destructive behaviours in the past when left unsupervised and tethered, including chewing and ingesting items, which required vet intervention in a few cases. However, when managed well—especially with crate time and supervision—he settles beautifully.
Gator is a sweet, silly, and soulful boy looking for someone who’ll laugh at his quirks, keep an eye on his cheeky habits, and enjoy the slow life together. If you're after a companion who will adore you, keep you company, and occasionally steal your sandwich if you’re not watching—Gator might just be the one.
Where I grew up
Gator has lived in a variety of homes with different people and has proven himself adaptable and friendly in all settings. He’s spent time with children of all ages, older dogs (including a senior Staffy), and a young, playful Labrador pup. He’s also attended an office environment at Seeing Eye Dogs, spent time in kennels, and travelled in SED vans—all with great manners..
A good fit for me is...
Gator would do best in a home that can provide him with companionship and structure. His ideal match would be:
- Someone who is home most of the time or can take him to work
- A home with another dog to keep him company—he enjoys social interaction and play
- A person or family who appreciates a lazy, loving dog with a silly side
- Someone who can manage his cheeky behaviours like counter surfing and ensure he’s not left with chewable items when unsupervised
- A crate is a helpful management tool for Gator, and he settles well in one when needed
My personality traits
- Affectionate: Loves nothing more than being near his people and snuggling up
- Low-maintenance (mostly!): Doesn’t need much exercise, just your company and a comfy place to snooze
- Cheeky and opportunistic: Will happily help himself to anything left on the bench if given the chance
- Sociable: Great with dogs of all ages and very comfortable around children
- Adaptable: Has lived in different environments and transitions well with a little support
- Calm walker: Excellent on lead, particularly in a flat collar or harness
Training notes
- Gator has a history of chewing and ingesting items when unsupervised, especially on tether. This must be carefully managed in his new home.
- He is best crated when left alone, with no soft or chewable items in reach.
- He does counter surf and will seek out opportunities, so food and objects should be kept out of reach
