About Frisco

Frisco is a large, enthusiastic dog with a passion for people and learning. He thrives when given tasks and training opportunities and settles well in community settings like coffee shops and outings. While he’s no longer continuing in the Seeing Eye Dogs (SED) program due to his high dog distraction levels, Frisco has so much potential as a loving companion in the right home.

He’s currently managed on a specialised diet (Royal Canin Anallergenic) due to ongoing skin associated symptoms.
Frisco's adoption fee has been reduced by 50% to support his ongoing care needs.

Where I grew up

Frisco has experienced two caring home environments:

  • Household 1: A retired single woman who cared for him full-time, with visits 1–2 days a week from her primary school-aged grandchildren.
  • Household 2 (Foster): A retired couple who provided a quiet, structured environment with regular community outings.

In both homes, Frisco has shown he thrives on human interaction and training, settling well in new environments with people.

A good fit for me is...

Frisco would do best in a home that:

  • Has adult-only residents or older children confident around large dogs.
  • Is experienced with strong, high-energy dogs or willing to work with a trainer.
  • Can commit to using a head collar or body harness for walks and continued behaviour training.
  • Enjoys being active—Frisco needs both physical activity and mental stimulation to thrive.
  • Is understanding of medical needs, able to manage a special diet and support skin flare-ups as needed.

My personality traits

  • Highly enthusiastic and intelligent—loves learning and problem-solving.
  • Social with new people and enjoys joining in on everyday activities.
  • Can be vocal—will alert bark at passing dogs or doorbells but redirects well with a cue like "on your bed."
  • Shows inconsistent reactivity to other dogs, especially larger ones.
  • Needs continued support for pulling and launching on lead, currently managed well with a head collar.
  • Prone to skin flare-ups and ear infections, requiring a consistent diet and occasional vet support.
