About Fancy
Fancy is a young, large-breed girl with a zest for life and a heart full of love. She’s goofy, affectionate, and always ready for belly rubs and cuddles. She travels well, loves to learn, and thrives when she’s active and engaged. While she’s had some challenges, she’s incredibly resilient and continues to take everything in stride with a wagging tail.
Where I grew up
Fancy grew up in a household with two adults and no other pets. She hasn’t lived with children or small animals, and due to her size and energy, we don’t recommend a home with either
A good fit for me is...
Fancy’s ideal home would be with an active individual or couple—preferably younger—who either work from home or are home most of the time. She struggles being left alone and has shown signs of separation anxiety, which previously led to chewing bedding and pulling out her fur on her legs. These behaviours improved significantly when she was allowed to sleep in the same room as her carer, and when deterrent spray were used.
She’d absolutely love a large backyard and a lifestyle that includes regular outings like dog parks, dog beaches, runs, obedience or agility training, or games of fetch. She’d also thrive in a home with another playful, confident dog—ideally a younger, large-breed companion who can match her energy and help her learn how to switch off between play sessions.
Fancy still needs some structure—such as crate time or tethering—to help her understand boundaries and downtime, especially around other dogs.
- Companionship throughout the day
- Regular activity and stimulation
- A confident dog buddy (optional but ideal)
- Ongoing training and structure
- Patience, love, and plenty of belly rubs
My personality traits
- Affectionate and goofy: She loves nothing more than being near her people and getting bum or belly rubs.
- Energetic and enthusiastic: She approaches life with excitement and curiosity.
- Smart and eager to learn: She picks up obedience skills quickly, though impulse control is a work in progress.
- Playful but unaware of her size: She means well but can be rough when excited.
- Loves car rides: She’s happy traveling and enjoys the journey.
- Not yet calm: While she can be gentle, calmness is still a skill she's working on.
- Mouthy during excitement: She may mouth during play if there’s no toy available.
- Chewer: She has a history of chewing and ingesting bedding and soft toys, so durable toys and supervision are a must.
Training Notes
- Fancy wears a head collar but can still lunge strongly and unpredictably on leash due to distractions.
- She is not always connected to her handler, even if she knows them well—distractions often win out.
