Vision Australia would like to extend an invitation to all clients, their families, friends, Vision Australia partners and stakeholders, and community, who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to submit a special name for consideration to name a Seeing Eye Dogs pup for NAIDOC week.

This year, the chosen theme by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud celebrated nationally during NAIDOC week July 7 – 14.

This theme is a ‘call to continued unity and solidarity for all Australians to come together and celebrate. The fire symbol is a connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.’

Yellow male Kirrip and black female Ngawan who were named as part of the 2023 NAIDOC Week naming submissions

Submitted names will have a connection to country to recognise all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.

The submitted names will be considered by a panel from Seeing Eye Dogs, and announced during NAIDOC week.

Names that are chosen will need to be an appropriate fit for a Seeing Eye Dogs pup. We suggest that a name should be no more than two syllables.
