We’re excited to invite you to our one-day workshop all about caring for your retiring or ageing Seeing Eye Dog. This free event is open to anyone who is blind or has low vision and currently has a dog guide.
Workshop details
The workshop will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, 10am – 5pm AEST. You can attend the workshop in person at:
- Seeing Eye Dogs HQ Kensington, Victoria
- Vision Australia Coorparoo, Queensland
- Vision Australia Caringbah, New South Wales
- Vision Australia West Leederville, Western Australia.

The workshop is free, but registration is required.
Please note, there is limited accommodation available at Kensington for in-person attendees -get in early to secure your spot! Please note, travel costs are not covered by Seeing Eye Dogs.
What to expect
The day will include five sessions led by Seeing Eye Dog experts, a veterinarian, grief counsellor, and a special guest from Melbourne’s Rehabilitation Vet Clinic, plus an interactive client panel.
Topics include:
- Recognising signs of ageing in your dog guide.
- Common health conditions in older dogs.
- Personal experiences of retiring a dog and transitioning to a new one.
- Coping with grief.
- Treatment and care options for older dogs.
Lunch and refreshments are provided, and there's plenty of time for Q&A and sharing experiences.
All attendees are entered into a raffle with great prizes! Winners will be announced on the day.
