Hold onto your hearts, Ebony's Pack has arrived!

Woof! Hi Friend, my name is Ebony and I am super excited to meet you!

Of the 200+ pups born at Seeing Eye Dogs HQ this year, my siblings and I have been picked as your new sponsored puppy ‘pack’ – so you’ll be hearing a lot more from us. Yay!

I was chosen to be the ‘spokes puppy’ and leader of the pack which means I am the puppy that will write to you and share our training journey as we progress towards becoming Seeing Eye Dogs. Our litter will be named after me, so we’re now known as ‘Ebony's Pack’. How cool is that?

Now that you know who I am, let me tell you about my siblings! I’m one of six girls in our pack of Labrador puppies. My five sisters are Elphie, Eliza, Ettie, Elsa and Ember. Together, we make a special team, and we’re so excited that you’re joining us on this journey.

Ebony took on the puppy confidence course at Seeing Eye Dogs HQ.

We were born at the Seeing Eye Dog puppy centre on February 12, 2026. Our mum Iris, looked after us during our first eight weeks, while we explored new activities and situations.

When we were four weeks old, we entered the puppy socialisation program. We learned how to wear a collar, what is ok to chew and how to properly introduce ourselves to other pups and people.

At around five weeks old, we took on the puppy confidence course which shows how good our problem-solving skills are, as well as our ability to navigate different surfaces.

The humans at the centre were like puppy detectives, closely monitoring how we reacted to sudden movements and sounds. They checked for sensitivities, like how we felt about our ears or paws being touched.

Elphie and Ettie are super excited to start their training journey with you!

We’ve now settled into puppy caring homes that are perfect for us. We’re living with very special volunteers who will help us learn basic obedience and how to be calm and confident in public places, giving us our best shot at graduating as Seeing Eye Dogs. If you see us out and about, we’ll be wearing an official puppy training coat with “L” plates on it, which allows us to go almost everywhere our puppy carers go.

Thank you for sponsoring our pack and coming on this journey with us. You are now part of the pack and part of our Seeing Eye Dogs family too!

Watch us in action at Seeing Eye Dogs HQ! We’re learning, playing, and growing every day so that one day, we can help Australians who are blind or have low vision live more independent lives. It’s important work, but also lots of fun. Woof!

Staying focused in a busy world

Training is serious business, but it’s also lots of fun! Our puppy carers are helping us learn how to stay focused around all kinds of distractions like other dogs, yummy food on the ground and even big crowds of people! We’re also practising walking up and down stairs with confidence. It’s tricky, but we’re getting better every day!

First Update (8 weeks old)

With Benji, I can make choices and be independent

Nemoy’s match with Seeing Eye Dog Benji was everything he hoped for, giving him the freedom and independence he urgently needed.

Born with no vision in his left eye, due to a condition called toxoplasmosis, he lost sight in his right eye at age 18, following a retinal detachment.

“To me, true independence is knowing and understanding all of your choices and choosing the one that works for you at that time. This is what Benji has given me,” said Nemoy.

Carefully matched to Nemoy's individual needs and personality, Benji offers something no other mobility aid can – the freedom to move through the world with confidence rather than caution.

“Your impact goes a long way for people who need Seeing Eye Dogs. My hope is that you feel it in your heart when you see someone living the life they choose. Thank you.”

That’s all for now!

Thanks to you, my siblings and I are getting all the love, care and training we need to grow into life-changing Seeing Eye Dogs. Keep following our journey, celebrating our milestones and cheering us on with each update.

That’s all I've got today, but you won’t miss us for long! I’ll be back soon with more news and adorable photos of our adventures! Woof!

Until next time… big tail wags and puppy kisses!
