Vision Australia would like to extend an invitation to all clients, their families, friends, Vision Australia partners and stakeholders, and community, who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to submit a special name for consideration to name a Seeing Eye Dogs pup for NAIDOC Week 2025.

This year NAIDOC Week commemorates 50 years of “honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience.”

From July 6 – 13, 2025, this powerful milestone will celebrate 2025 theme, ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’, acknowledging not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.”

Seeing Eye Dogs pups - Bitja yellow, Gowola black, Journey yellow - who were named as part of NAIDOC Week 2024 Seeing Eye Dogs naming submissions.

Submitted names will have a connection to country to recognise all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.

The submitted names will be considered by a panel from Seeing Eye Dogs, including First Nations representatives and will be announced during NAIDOC week.

Names that are chosen will need to be an appropriate fit for a Seeing Eye Dogs pup. We suggest that a name should be no more than two syllables.

Please submit your special name and a short description of how it connects to country by Friday July 4, 2025 by sending an email to: [email protected].

Successful entrants will be contacted by phone and emailed on Monday July 7, 2025. Pup names and pup photos will be announced on the Seeing Eye Dogs Facebook page later that week, along with a short description of the name and who it was submitted by.
