About Myrtle
Myrtle is a bright, loving, and energetic young girl with a heart full of affection and a touch of nervous energy. She’s happiest when she’s with her people — whether that’s playing tug of war, chasing a ball, or resting her head gently on your feet to make sure you’re not going anywhere without her!
Myrtle has a lower confidence level in busy or unfamiliar environments, and loud noises or new situations can worry her. She’ll need a patient, understanding family who can reassure her when she’s feeling unsure and continue to gently build her confidence.
She walks beautifully on a body harness or head collar and enjoys being out and about, though she prefers to keep moving — stopping for long chats on a walk isn’t really her style!
Where I grew up
Myrtle grew up in a loving home with an adult carer. She had no pets at home but was well socialised and enjoyed plenty of positive experiences with other dogs and people.
She even attended work with her carer at a primary school, spending time in a classroom full of six-year-olds — and she absolutely loved it! Myrtle is gentle and playful with children and thrives in their company.
A good fit for me is...
Myrtle would suit an active, affectionate household that can offer her both companionship and structure. Because she can become anxious when left alone, she’d do best in a home where someone is around for most of the day.
She’d love to have another confident, friendly dog as a companion — ideally one who enjoys playtime and can help show her the ropes when things feel a little scary.
A quieter neighbourhood (away from heavy traffic or loud noises) would help her feel more comfortable. She’d be a wonderful match for a family with primary school–aged children who can join in on games and cuddles.
My personality traits
• Affectionate & Loyal: Myrtle adores her family and loves to be close to them. She’ll happily lie by your feet just to be near you.
• Playful & Fun: She enjoys chasing balls, tug games, and playtime with dogs she knows well. Durable toys are best — she can be a bit too enthusiastic with the soft ones!
• Sensitive & Gentle: Myrtle is cautious in new situations and needs reassurance from her people. With patience and consistency, she’ll continue to build confidence.
• A Bit Fearful of Loud Noises: Garbage trucks, vacuum cleaners, and vet visits can be overwhelming for her. These fears can cause her to shake or even toilet from nerves, so she’ll need gentle exposure and positive experiences to help her cope.
• Curious & Busy: Myrtle loves exploring her surroundings and has a bit of “nervous energy.” She enjoys being outdoors, digging in sand or dirt, and proudly carrying her favourite sticks around.
