About Lyric
Lyric is a bright, social and engaging dog who is looking for a calm, consistent home where he can settle into a predictable routine and continue to build on his strengths. He has shown good trainability, enjoys working with people, and responds well to clear, reward-based guidance.
During his time in training, Lyric showed a strong interest in learning, enjoyed interacting with people, and made good progress when given clear guidance and routine. He has experienced a variety of environments, including buses, trains and lifts. While he can sometimes become excited, particularly when greeting people he knows or in stimulating environments, he generally responds well to calm, consistent handling and clear expectations. A head collar is recommended in higher stimulation environments to support safe and comfortable handling.
Where I grew up
Lyric grew up in a suburban household with two mature adults and two older small-breed pet dogs. This gave him regular exposure to a settled home environment, everyday household routines and living alongside other dogs. He has also lived successfully with a cat and demonstrated appropriate behaviour in that environment.
He spent time with a volunteer carer and participated in training and assessment activities as he developed.
Lyric also attended the workplace with his carer, including a home office setting and a reception/admin office at a local TAFE college. In these settings, he was reported to be calm and settled, able to remain loose around the space rather than needing to be tethered. He has also had practice with handling, lead walking, head collar training, recall, settling routines and engagement around distractions. Like many young dogs, he has needed support at times with excitement and calm greetings, but has shown he can respond well when training is clear and consistent.

Lyric would suit an adopter who enjoys training, can provide routine and is comfortable supporting a clever dog who may need help managing excitement in stimulating situations.

Lyric has a history of recurring skin issues and was released from the program due to skin-related concerns. Lyric has experienced ongoing skin sensitivities that have required veterinary treatment from time to time. His future adopter will need to be comfortable monitoring his skin health, following veterinary advice, and continuing any management or treatment recommended by their veterinarian. In recognition of the ongoing care that may be required, Lyric's adoption fee has been halved.
