About Lottie
Affectionate, easy-going and happiest when she's sharing life with her people.
Lottie is a beautiful young Labrador looking for a family to call her own. She is the kind of dog who fits effortlessly into daily life, whether that means joining you for a morning walk, accompanying you to work, meeting friends for coffee, exploring the local shops, or simply spending a quiet day pottering around the garden before settling in for a nap.
Those who know Lottie best describe her as a pleasure to have around. She's affectionate, sensible, eager to please and wonderfully easy to manage.
Lottie loves being part of whatever her people are doing. She's equally happy heading out for an adventure, enjoying a run and play with other dogs, or lounging around the house and garden. She adapts well to the pace of her environment and is content to join in or simply "mooch about" nearby.
One thing that stands out about Lottie is how much she enjoys company. She has shared her home with two older female dogs and is often found curled up sleeping beside another dog even when there are plenty of beds available. A home with another friendly dog would likely be something she would enjoy.
Lottie has been released from the Seeing Eye Dogs training program because she does not have the level of resilience required for guide dog work. During training she displayed concern towards certain pedestrians, novel objects such as prams and trolleys, and strong scent interest around locations such as butcher and fish shops. While these are manageable traits in a pet home, she took longer than required to regulate herself and return to a productive working state, making guide dog work unsuitable for her.
Importantly, these traits do not affect her ability to be a wonderful family companion.
Where I grew up
Lottie was raised in a suburban family home with two adults and frequent visits from grandchildren, particularly during school holidays. She shared her home with two older female dogs and was exposed to a busy family environment from an early age.
She has also enjoyed a wide range of experiences through the Seeing Eye Dogs program, regularly attending her carer's workplace and spending time in school environments. Lottie has visited both primary and secondary schools and has shown herself to be comfortable in school and medical settings.
A good fit for me is...
Lottie would thrive in a home that offers:
Plenty of companionship and inclusion in daily activities.
A family looking for a dog who enjoys being involved.
Regular walks and opportunities for enrichment.
A calm and supportive approach when introducing new experiences.
Another friendly dog for company, although this is not essential.
People who appreciate an affectionate dog with a gentle nature.
Because Lottie genuinely enjoys company, she may be best suited to a home where she is not left alone for long periods on a regular basis.
