About Star
Star is a sweet, gentle girl who has a lot of love to give. She has not continued in the Seeing Eye Dogs program as she lacks the confidence and resilience needed to comfortably navigate complex environments. While the world can sometimes feel overwhelming to her, Star has shown that with patient support and guidance, she is capable of making wonderful progress.
At home, Star is calm, affectionate and enjoys being close to her people. She loves children, is gentle in her interactions, and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. Watching her work through challenges and grow in confidence has been incredibly rewarding.
Where I grew up
I grew up in a suburban home with a mature adult and no other pets. My days were filled with adventures, including walks, shopping trips, Pilates classes, cardiac rehabilitation classes, train rides to football games, visits to Marvel Stadium and the MCG, ANZAC Day marches, and plenty of local community activities.
I walked on a body harness and was introduced to many different environments and experiences. I was crate trained and adapted to using a crate very quickly. At home, I know what belongs to me and what belongs to my people, and I can be trusted not to destroy household items.
When out and about, I am often happy to settle and relax while my person stops to chat with others. Visitors to the home are no problem either, provided I am given a little time to settle before interactions begin.
A good fit for me is...
Star would thrive with someone who understands that confidence building takes time and who is willing to continue supporting her through some of life's challenges.
She could be a wonderful match for:
A calm and patient adopter who enjoys celebrating small wins
Someone looking for a gentle and affectionate companion
A household where routines are predictable and supportive
Families with respectful children
An adopter willing to continue positive reinforcement training and confidence-building activities
Star may enjoy the company of another calm dog, although her long-term experience living with another dog is unknown. During day visits with other dogs, she was often more interested in engaging with them than settling, so careful consideration would be needed to determine the best fit.
