About Zenon
Zenon is a striking, active young dog with charming good looks and a cheeky character to match. He is very willing and highly capable of learning quickly, especially when he has clear structure and guidance.
While Zenon has many wonderful qualities, he is not temperamentally suited to continue in the SED training program, as the level of resilience required for that role is not quite there. That said, his drive and enthusiasm would make him a fantastic candidate for agility, scent work, or another active dog sport — he truly thrives when he has a job to do.
Where I grew up
Zenon grew up in a relaxed, double-storey home with an adult couple. He has also attended the workplace with his carer, where he remained on tether. He can maintain position on his bed or mat; however, he is easily stimulated and can become over-aroused when other dogs are present or when people attempt to greet him.
In the home, Zenon is generally settled when appropriately monitored. He does best with clear boundaries — for example, doors may need to be closed to restrict access to certain areas. He should not have soft, padded bedding, as he may remove the stuffing, but he is perfectly content on a flat-style bed.
He happily sleeps on a mat in your bedroom (with clear reinforcement of “on your bed”), on tether, or in a crate — which he loves. He can remain settled in the living area on a down stay and does not bark unnecessarily. Zenon typically requires 2–3 weeks to settle into a new home environment.
A good fit for me is...
Zenon is an active, alert dog who requires structure, consistency, and sufficient daily mental and physical exercise. He will need an experienced owner who can confidently and physically handle a potentially strong dog.
He would not be suited to retirees seeking a low-energy companion or to families with young children. Busier environments can be challenging for him, as he struggles with impulse control and shows moderate distraction around other dogs.
Zenon’s traits are far better suited to agility, nose work, or another structured activity where he can channel his energy productively. He loves going on walks and outings and enjoys engaging with his handler (especially chest rubs!).
My personality traits
Strengths:
High energy and very willing to learn
Quick learner who enjoys working with his handler
Engaging, affectionate, and full of character
Areas Requiring Ongoing Support:
Can become over-stimulated in environments with other dogs or high activity
Requires 2–3 weeks to settle into a new home and will need close monitoring initially
May become fidgety and, at times, attempt to lick or softly mouth hands — this should be redirected to a chew or soft toy
Needs consistent structure and reinforcement of alternative behaviours (e.g., chin rest, taking a soft toy, impulse control exercises)
