About Pedro

Pedro is a lovable, goofy boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s playful, affectionate, and eager to please — a fun companion who will bring laughter and energy to the right home. While he has some training needs around other dogs, he has no aggression and simply gets very excited.
With guidance and the right setup, Pedro will make a wonderful family pet.
Pedro is great to walk when no other dogs are around. He walks in a head halti and will need to continue using a head collar/bridle in his new home, as he can use his strength when he sees other dogs.
His interest in other dogs presents as persistent pulling towards them and reduced leash responsiveness. Barking at dogs on the street has been observed, though not consistently. Importantly, his lunging has been to get to other dogs — not out of aggression — and he has shown no guarding or aggressive behaviours.
He is quite goofy and immature, still very much a big puppy at heart. He loves food (especially peanut butter and bananas!) and is highly motivated by treats, which is helpful for ongoing training.

Where I grew up

Pedro grew up in a household with three adults and another Seeing Eye Dogs puppy. He has experience living alongside another dog and particularly enjoyed playing with his housemate — they simply loved to wrestle and play.
He is accustomed to a busy home environment and being part of daily life.

A good fit for me is...

Pedro would suit:
•    A confident handler comfortable using a head collar
•    A home committed to continuing positive training
•    A family who understands he is strong and excitable around dogs
•    Possibly a home with another playful dog (with proper introductions)
•    A property where he can run and burn off energy safely
At home, Pedro settles well in his crate and can be left crated without accidents. He may bark indoors at noises and enjoys a good alert bark, including at other dogs outside. He’s curious and likes to have a sniff at the kitchen bench but does not counter surf.
Dog parks would not be recommended initially while his excitement and leash behaviour continue to be managed.

My personality traits

Pedro is:
•    Playful and energetic
•    Very eager to please
•    Food motivated
•    Affectionate and expressive (his facial expressions are adorable!)
•    Social and enthusiastic with other dogs
•    Crate trained and clean indoors
He does have:
•    Moderate lack of focus at times
•    Strong excitement and lunging behaviour around other dogs
•    Barking at noises indoors and occasionally at dogs
Pedro’s distraction around dogs is his main training focus. With consistency, structure, and continued guidance, he has every chance of improving further.
