About Emmi
Emmi is a gorgeous, happy little soul with a wiggly body and a heart full of love. She’s a smaller-sized girl with a big personality — affectionate, gentle, and always keen to be close to her people. Emmi is incredibly sweet-natured and thrives on companionship, happily following her humans from room to room and out into the yard.
She is wonderful in the home, loves both adults and children, and shows beautiful manners. Emmi hasn’t lived with cats or pocket pets, but based on her gentle nature, we don’t foresee any major concerns with careful introductions.
Emmi recently underwent surgery to repair a torn cruciate ligament in her knee. She is currently completing a six-week rest and recovery period and will be ready for adoption once cleared. With the right management, she is expected to return to a happy, active life.
Where I grew up
Emmi grew up in a calm home environment with one adult male. She was very much part of the household and developed excellent home manners as a result. She is trustworthy, responsive, and enjoys clear guidance.
She walks nicely in a walking harness and enjoys being out and about, particularly when she can share those experiences with her people or other friendly dogs.
A good fit for me is...
Emmi would suit a wide range of homes — families, couples, singles, or older adopters — if she can be included as part of the family.
Her ideal home will offer:
- Another friendly dog in the household or regular dog playdates (important for her happiness, with joint health in mind)
- Owners committed to maintaining an ideal body weight
- A lifestyle that favours low-impact exercise (walking, gentle play, swimming)
- An understanding of her recent knee surgery and long-term joint care needs
Her new family should avoid intensive exercise such as long runs or repetitive high-impact games like fetch, particularly as she continues to recover and mature.
My personality traits
Emmi is:
- Happy, affectionate, and delightfully wiggly
- Gentle and beautifully behaved with children
- Very dog-social and loves playing with other dogs
- Intelligent, eager to please, and quick to learn
- Calm and placid in the home
- Trustworthy and responsive to instructions
Her biggest challenge is her enthusiasm for other dogs while out on walks — she notices them and would love to say hello, but she does not jump toward them and responds well to guidance. In organised play settings, she truly shines and enjoys every moment.
Health & Long-Term Care
Emmi’s cruciate surgery has given her excellent prospects for recovery. However, long-term care will be important to support her joints:
- Arthritis risk: Common after cruciate injury but usually very manageable
- Weight control: One of the most important factors in her long-term comfort
- Joint support: Supplements such as glucosamine and omega-3s may be beneficial
- Ongoing care: Periodic pain relief or injections may be needed later in life
- Opposite knee risk: There is a chance the other knee could be affected in the future
With good rehabilitation, appropriate exercise, and weight management, most dogs like Emmi go on to live full, happy, and comfortable lives.
