About Edward
Edward (Eddy to his friends) is a sensitive, affectionate boy looking for a very special home where he can feel safe, understood, and truly settled. He has a gentle soul, forms deep bonds with his people, and thrives when life is calm, predictable, and kind.
Edward is an anxious pup who struggles with body handling and husbandry. When he feels overwhelmed, he may retreat, bark, vocalise, or show his teeth to communicate his discomfort.
He is fearful of veterinary and grooming procedures and would benefit from ongoing positive training, and potentially medication support for vet visits.
Edward also experiences moderate separation anxiety. When left alone, he may bark for up to 20 minutes and can become vocal or destructive if stressed or frustrated.
He does much better with canine company and settles well when his physical and emotional needs are met.
He walks nicely using a head collar and enjoys getting out and about, especially with someone he trusts.
Where I grew up
Edward has lived in several different household setups:
• Currently with one adult
• Previously with a adult couple
• Previously in a household with two adults in their 50s and two adult children in their 20s
He has experience living with other pets, including:
• A large-breed dog (3 years old)
• A cat (14 years old)
Edward has shown he can live well with both dogs and cats when introductions are managed carefully.
A good fit for me is...
Edward is looking for:
• A calm, patient adult-only home
• Someone who is home more often than not and wants a constant companion
• A person who enjoys being active, as Edward needs two 30-minute walks per day and loves to play
• A home that understands anxiety and is willing to go at Edward’s pace
• A calm, older dog companion would be a big bonus, especially if Edward needs to be left alone at times
Edward thrives with routine, reassurance, and kindness. In his current care, he is able to be left alone with support, but in previous homes he became restless and destructive when his anxiety wasn’t fully understood.
My personality traits
Edward is:
• Affectionate, gentle, and playful
• Very dog-social and plays well with most dogs
• Good with cats
• Loyal and deeply bonded to his primary handler
• Energetic and fun-loving, especially on walks
• Calm and settled at home when his needs are met
He enjoys being close to his human and will happily keep you company throughout the day. While he may alert bark and occasionally frustration bark (this is improving), he very rarely jumps or mouths.
Edward can be a bit cheeky at times—he may counter-surf or steal items—but he doesn’t dig and responds best to gentle guidance rather than correction. He has the occasional toileting accident, usually linked to stress or routine changes.
Edward isn’t a “plug-and-play” dog—but for the right person, he will be an incredibly rewarding companion.
