About Yoko

Yoko is a very sweet little pocket rocket who will make a beautiful companion for the right home. She is affectionate, gentle, and loves being close to her people. Once she’s settled, she is calm and cuddly, but she’ll always happily greet you at the door. Yoko enjoys her independence but truly thrives when she can spend lots of time with her humans—especially if cuddles are involved.

Where I Grew Up

Yoko has grown up in an all-female household and is very comfortable in that environment. Her previous homes were also all-female (young adults), and she has adjusted well to changes with the right support. She has lived with a cat and loves other dogs. Currently, there are no other pets in the home, but she continues to show positive interest in other dogs.

Yoko has attended a workplace with her carer and did wonderfully—settling quietly in her crate on a pool deck while people were around.

A Good Fit for Me Is

Yoko would suit a home where someone is around more often than not. She is okay being on her own, but she really enjoys company and regular affection. She would make a great family dog and would benefit from a calm, patient home that can continue supporting her confidence, especially when out and about.

A home without open stairs (or with someone willing to work gently with her) would be ideal. She has ongoing anxiety around stairs, particularly open ones, and tends to rush when feeling unsure. This has been worked on over time, but it’s something her future family should be aware of.

She would do well with:

  • A patient and understanding household
  • Opportunities for cuddles and companionship
  • Gentle guidance on walks and in new environments
  • A home that can manage some anxiety-related behaviours while she settles in

My Personality Traits

  • Very affectionate and loves cuddles
  • Gentle and great with people
  • Loves other dogs; playful with cats (especially if they run!)
  • Settles quickly and is happy in her crate
  • Good on the lead
  • Independent but people-focused
  • Greets you happily at the door

Yoko can be distracted by other dogs and may show some anxiety on walks, including avoidance of wearing equipment. She may also have occasional toileting accidents (urination), particularly in a new home, which appear to be anxiety-related and tend to improve as she settles.

She is coprophagic and likes to hold toys and objects in her mouth—she doesn’t usually swallow them and will happily give them back. She may growl a little when playing with a toy, but this is playful behaviour. When bored, she may dig in the garden.
