The Seeing Eye Dogs Show: Kennel attendants and foster caring

03 July 2018

Presented by Kennel Attendant and talented actor Cam Faull, the Seeing Eye Dogs Show, broadcast on Vision Australia Radio, is your guide to the incredible work that goes on behind the scenes at Seeing Eye Dogs.

Broadcast fortnightly, the show will also bring you all of the latest in dog health, puppy and foster caring, interviews with experts and more.

On the latest edition, Cam talks to fellow Kennel Attendant Josh Radford about what goes into the role and the importance of Seeing Eye Dog Foster Carers.

“[As kennel attendants] we take care of the dogs to keep them happy, healthy and fit. Every day the dogs need to eat, to sleep, go to the toilet. They need to exercise, play, train and socialise,” Josh said.

“We just facilitate all of that in whatever way needed, whether that be doing health checks, attending to minor medical stuff, through to maintaining their training or cleaning up,” he said.

Foster carers provide homes for our dogs in a range of different circumstances, such as when a puppy carer is on holidays, overnight care for dogs in training or respite care as needed.

“We’re always looking to take on new carers. We’ve got a shortage of respite carers at the moment," Josh said

"We’ve got people who are willing to take a dog on the weekend for a short burst, but we’ve got a shortage of people willing to take dog’s on a longer basis."
